In Venezuela, freedom of press and expression remains one of the most urgent and fragile rights.
Journalists, media outlets, and activists continue to face censorship, harassment, imprisonment, and even violence for exercising their voices in a country where information is tightly controlled.
Our initiative seeks to mobilize resources and partnerships to change this reality. We aim to develop advocacy campaigns that raise public awareness, support independent journalism, and push for accountability, while exposing repressive laws and practices that silence dissent. These efforts require financial, institutional, and technological support to achieve meaningful impact inside and outside Venezuela.
Strategy – Defense of Press and Expression Freedom in Venezuela
Advocacy & Awareness Campaigns
- Design national and international campaigns to expose censorship, persecution, and violations against journalists and activists in Venezuela.
- Denounce restrictive laws such as the “Law Against Hatred” and other legal instruments used to silence dissent.
- Collaborate with Venezuelan civil society to raise awareness of the importance of protecting free expression.
Protective Alliances & Networks
- Build coalitions with Venezuelan NGOs, independent media outlets, universities, and international organizations.
- Establish protective mechanisms and emergency response networks to provide visibility and support to persecuted voices.
- Ensure that cases of censorship and harassment in Venezuela are reported to regional and global platforms.
Educational Programs
- Implement training programs in digital security, media literacy, and civic engagement for Venezuelan journalists, students, and community leaders.
- Empower citizens to identify disinformation, protect their rights, and participate actively in defending free expression.
Technological & Institutional Support
- Provide secure tools, platforms, and resources for Venezuelan independent media and journalists under risk.
- Support the development of innovative digital strategies that allow outlets to keep informing despite censorship and limited resources.
